Michael Cameron is one of the nation’s finest luthiers who specialise in the repair and renovation of stringed instruments.
His forty years experience includes graduating in the craft of wood turning and making of bagpipes for George Alexander, making recorders for Arnold Dolmech, having also taught himself lute making, running his own workshop as a luthier and guitar repairer.
For 25 years Michael worked on site repairing and restoring guitars at Ivor Mairants music centre and then at Hobgoblins (both in London’s west end) where he continues to work one day a week and where his skills are appreciated by many a well known musician
Michael also has exceptional skills in the restoration of old and obscure stringed instruments. He restores them for the internationally known musical instrument collector and dealer Tony Bingham. His understanding of design, sound and the properties of wood, his unstinting attention to detail and his commitment to research qualifies him as a craftsmen par excellence.
So whether it's a matter of re-fretting, repairing, restoring or more (or ‘lowering action, fitting a pickup or removing and refitting the bridge on your old acoustic guitar, or repairing a crack or more complex damage, or restoring a beloved antique instrument or even making you a bespoke one’) Michael‘s your man. |
